Low fidelity (Lo Fi) music began in the 50s, when amateur musicians (who didn’t have enough money to record in high quality studios) decided to record their songs anyway. It was dodgy, unsophisticated, distorted, crackly, and DIY, but people found it beautiful because it was honest, uncomplicated and real.
